The Project

After a hiatus of approximately seven years, the Bronx Chamber of Commerce revived the annual Albany event with a new ambition: create a compelling showcase of the Bronx’s businesses, institutions, culture, and contributions to New York State.  Working with producer Taryn Duffy, we helped bring that vision to life at the Albany Capital Center in March 2026.

The event brought together 52 vendors and participating institutions, alongside sponsors, business leaders, public officials, and members of the Bronx community.

The program extended beyond a traditional exhibition, incorporating panel discussions, public workshops, individual meetings between business owners and capital funders, and special programming at the New York State Capitol.

A custom lighting installation spelling out “The Bronx” became one of the event’s defining visual moments.

The Challenge

Revive a dormant event and significantly raise expectations for what it could deliver

The Bronx Chamber’s Albany event had been inactive for several years, and its previous format was described as lacking the impact organizers wanted.

Producer Taryn Duffy envisioned a more ambitious experience that would showcase the borough’s strengths and make a stronger impression on state legislators, sponsors, and attendees.

Delivering that vision required coordinating a diverse group of participants, including major institutions, small businesses, food vendors, sponsors, and government stakeholders.

The Albany Capital Center also operated with exclusive vendor requirements, adding another layer of coordination to catering and venue operations.

Our challenge was to translate a broad institutional vision into a cohesive, well-organized event with a stronger visual identity and a seamless participant experience.

The Approach

Build an integrated platform for business, culture, advocacy, and connection.

The production strategy focused on bringing together multiple experiences under one coordinated event.

  • Showcase the Bronx. Curate a broad representation of the borough’s cultural institutions, businesses, restaurants, and major organizations.

  • Create meaningful engagement. Support programming that connected participants with business resources, policy discussions, capital funders, and elected officials.

  • Elevate the environment. Introduce more sophisticated production elements, including custom lighting, coordinated décor, and a carefully planned exhibition layout.

  • Simplify participation. Use centralized registration infrastructure to manage attendees, sponsors, and vendors.

The goal was to create an event that felt representative of the Bronx’s scale, talent, and economic potential.

The Execution

Exhibition Planning & Vendor Coordination

We coordinated the exhibition environment for 52 participating vendors and institutions.  The lineup included major Bronx organizations such as the Bronx Zoo, New York Botanical Garden, New York Yankees, Hip Hop Museum, Bronx Children’s Museum, and JP Morgan Chase, alongside restaurants, retailers, and service businesses.

Participating food businesses included Havana Cafe, Salsa Catering and the Bronx Beer Hall.  Also, in the room were Bronx Tourism and the Bronx Economic Development Corp.  Media support was provided by BronxNet, Dendera and In The Room Media.

The exhibition floor was designed to accommodate the different vendor categories while supporting attendee circulation and visibility.

Event Programming

The event opened with a morning brunch and two panel sessions over approximately two hours

Additional public workshops addressed issues affecting Bronx residents and businesses, including artificial intelligence, technology, climate change, and energy conservation. Capital funders also met individually with selected business owners to discuss potential funding opportunities.

Sponsor & Government Engagement

The program included a VIP tour of the New York State Capitol for sponsors

Participants also received official floor greetings in both the Assembly and Senate chambers from legislative leadership.  JP Morgan Chase served as an anchor sponsor.  These elements helped connect the event’s business and cultural programming with its broader civic and advocacy objectives.

Production Design & Hospitality

We coordinated the event’s décor, balloons, printing, rentals, DJ, booth setups, and other production requirements.  The Albany Capital Center’s exclusive catering arrangements were managed through Mazzone Catering, alongside beverage stations and hospitality services.

One of the most memorable elements was a custom ceiling lighting installation spelling out “The Bronx.”  The installation created a dramatic visual statement and prompted the observation that “The Bronx was above all.”

Registration & On-Site Logistics

A custom-built event website centralized registrations for attendees, sponsors, and vendors

The production team arrived in Albany the afternoon before the event to oversee setup of the exhibition floor and banquet hall.  Execution required coordination among E218, Taryn Duffy’s production team, the Bronx Chamber, venue personnel, sponsors, and exhibitors.

The Outcome

The revived event received enthusiastic feedback from attendees, sponsors, and vendors

The upgraded production also attracted attention beyond the Bronx.  According to the event recap, the president of the Brooklyn Chamber contacted the Bronx Chamber’s president the following morning after elected officials reportedly questioned why Brooklyn’s corresponding Albany event had not featured similar production elements.

Guests were already asking about the following year’s event date during the 2026 gathering.  These reactions suggest that the redesigned experience succeeded in raising the event’s profile and creating stronger expectations for future editions.

The collaboration also marked our first project with producer Taryn Duffy, establishing a working partnership around a complex, multi-stakeholder production.
